Thaumcraft offers a few tiers of armor depending on how deep into it you get. It cannot be enchanted so leaves you very vulnerable to withering. Nano suit armor is a far lighter investment in ic2 but still requires quite an infrastructure to keep charged. Quantum armor is pretty powerful but you will need to dive deep into ic2 to make a mass fab to produce the iridium you will need.
